I didn’t know Becky, but I wish I had! Notwithstanding her sad and sudden death on December 26, Rebecca Tarbotton — Executive Director of the Rainforest Action Network (RAN) — remains an inspiration. Her 16-minute talk on RAN’s memorial web page is an excellent time investment as the rest of us contemplate the new beginnings that 2013 offers in our own efforts to create social change.

A recent RAN victory worth celebrating is a public commitment by Disney (the world’s largest publisher of children’s books) to eliminate paper from rainforests and areas of conflict from its global supply chain.

You may find — as I did — further inspiration in Celia Alario’s reflections about Becky and what her death means for all of us.
