Renewable Energy for the Developing World-Hands-On Workshop
January 3, 2013 - January 11, 2013
January 03 – 11, 2013 – Mastatal, Puriscal County Costa Rica
Opportunities for using simple renewable energy systems abound in the less over-developed parts of our planet. This workshop will give you a solid overview of most of the applicable technologies, including solar cooking, solar-, wind-, and hydro-electric systems, solar hot water, and methane biodigesters. We’ll spend about half our time in the field doing actual projects, including building and using solar cookers, installing a solar-electric or solar hot water system, and installing a methane biodigester. Get a taste of each of these technologies, and direct experience working in the field with professionals in the field and local project recipients, while enjoying a spectacular natural and human environment at Rancho Mastatal . Our 7-day program includes a break day in the middle for cultural pursuits, adventures, or just relaxing in a hammock. US$1,480 includes tuition, dorm lodging, food, and in-country travel
